A Timeless Tribute
Original Playboys have been worn by a host of interesting people through the times, but none have had a more lasting impact on our brand’s history than the renowned Hollywood actor Steve McQueen, who wore Original Playboys both on and off screen from the 1950s and well into the 1970s.
Steve McQueen, born in 1930, rose to fame in the late 1950s and became the world’s highest-paid actor for his roles in films such as ’The Great Escape’ (1963), ’The Thomas Crown Affair’ (1968), ’Bullitt’ (1968), and ’Le Mans’ (1971).
In his iconic role as Police Detective Frank Bullitt in the movie ’Bullitt’, featuring one of the most famous car chases in film history, McQueen epitomizes his ’King of cool’ style in a brown herringbone tweed jacket, a navy blue cashmere turtleneck, charcoal trousers, and his signature tan suede Original Playboy chukka boots.
As a tribute to Steve McQueen, and to honour his part in our story, we have proudly collaborated with his family since 2021.
thank you
