The BM1-9 is a modified smock made of a 100% cotton high-density Japanese canvas from the fabric mill Kowa with an exposed zipper at the front. This lightweight jacket has a relaxed fit with dropped shoulders and features a hood, large patch pockets, side seam pockets and two large inner pockets that close with signature A/A/F life vest buttons.
Hem, sleeves, and hood can be adjusted with a specially designed tape construction inspired by vintage US Navy smocks. These cotton ‘salvage parkas’ were used as single-use protective garments and therefore had cloth strings for fastening as opposed to metal hardware.
